Overview

The Digital Streaming Specialist (Multimedia Specialist I) is an exempt position with full benefits that reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Video Operations with responsibilities in all aspects of live video production and daily needs including coaches video and creative content. 

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Live video productions of various sporting events.
  • Weekly press conferences and other various events.
  • Recruit, hire, and train student staff for all broadcasts,
  • Coordinate production crew and talent scheduling.
  • Work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Video Operations in purchasing and maintenance for all broadcast equipment.
  • Editing post-production content.
  • Help maintain various social media accounts,
  • Research upgrades.
  • Attend developmental conferences.
  • General office duties as assigned.

Must have a creative and innovative technical mind, be self motivated, and must be very resourceful. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment is required. The position requires a flexible work schedule based on events including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Some travel will be required for various events and developmental opportunities. Must have experience filming sporting events and have a strong working knowledge of cameras, tripods, lighting, and audio equipment. Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time and must have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience is required. As part of this education/experience, one year working in live sports video production at the collegiate or professional level.
  • Experience working with vMix live production software or equivalent.
  • Experience working with and training broadcasters.
  • Experience in a managerial or leadership role training and directing students in live production practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of IT troubleshooting.
  • General knowledge of computers and various storage devices.
  • Experience working with coaches in collegiate athletics.
  • Familiar with common procedures and prioritizing in a high pace environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work within a live production environment, with a demonstrated proficiency in directing, technical directing, audio mixing, and operation of replay and graphics.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with commitment to customer service and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical abilities and ability to problem solve in a comprehensive manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of professional camera brands
  • Knowledgeable of the NCAA rules and a commitment to adhere to all rules and regulations of Utah State University, the Pac-12 Conference, and the NCAA

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing). Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
