Overview

The College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for Academic Department Coordinator positions across multiple academic departments. These roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic academic community while helping shape the daily operations that support departmental success.

 

Academic Department Coordinators play a vital role in creating an organized and collaborative departmental environment. Working closely with Department Heads, Academic Department Coordinators will help translate strategic priorities into coordinated action and operational execution by coordinating workflows, supporting administrative processes, and assisting with the implementation of departmental procedures and operational priorities.

Responsibilities

Department Operations & Coordination

  • Support daily administrative operations, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and departmental logistics

Faculty & Academic Support

  • Assist with course scheduling, faculty activities, and academic program coordination
  • Support faculty meetings, committees, and personnel processes (e.g., onboarding, annual reviews)
  • Compile and organize data to support planning, reporting, and accreditation

Administrative Support

  • Help manage and improve administrative workflows across the department
  • Maintain organized records, documentation, and administrative systems
  • Coordinate hiring-related tasks and personnel processes

Compliance & Communication

  • Ensure administrative processes and records align with university policies
  • Support reporting and compliance requirements
  • Serve as a key point of contact and facilitate clear communication with faculty, staff, and students

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, higher education administration, public administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with administrative operations within higher education environments.
  • Understanding of faculty support functions and academic administrative practices.
  • Understanding of university personnel procedures and institutional administrative policies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and proactively propose solutions
  • Ability to learn and apply new systems, processes, and institutional policies
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when working with records, data, and documentation
  • Ability to solve problems, think critically, and identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Customer service mindset with a willingness to support others and respond to inquiries in a timely, helpful manner
