This position oversees the planning, establishment, execution, and evaluation of the University’s fire safety program; serves as the University’s representative with state and local regulators; and provides day-to-day technical/professional guidance and leadership to the University community on a wide range of fire safety issues. The Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences (NDFS) has an opening for the professional position of Dairy Production Laboratory Food Scientist (Program Coordinator SR). The Gary Haight Richardson Dairy Products Laboratory (DPL) is located in the C. Anthon Ernstrom Nutrition and Food Science building on the Logan campus of Utah State University. The DPL Food Scientist will oversee research and compliance within the DPL, teach labs and short courses and provide trainings for students. The Gary H. Richardson DPL provides learning and discovery opportunities that enhance undergraduate and graduate education in the NDFS degree programs. DPL plays a critical role in strengthening dairy science research program in the NDFS department and the Western Dairy Center. In addition, the DPL facilitates engagement with the dairy food industry, and reflects the department’s commitment to supporting a safe and wholesome food supply through science and innovation. The DPL is approved as a Grade A milk processing operation, and ice cream and other dairy food production occurs throughout the year.
The DPL Food Scientist reports to the Department Head of the NDFS Department and will serve on the USU Aggie Creamery advisory council. The USU Aggie Creamery advisory council members report to the Department Head and include the DPL Food Scientist, the Creamery Retail Sales Manager, the Creamery Production Manager, the NDFS Business Manager, and the Creamery Faculty Director or faculty representatives as appointed by the Department Head.
The School of Teacher Education and Leadership (TEAL) at Utah State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to assist a research team studying elementary students’ development of computational and spatial thinking. Over the research project’s four years, the team will conduct classroom design-based research studies on children’s thinking as they solve coding tasks with robots and other digital technologies. The Department of Technology, Design, and Technical Education (TDTE) at Utah State University (USU) seeks candidates for a full-time, academic-year (9-month), non-tenure track term lecturer position that offers benefits. There is a possible opportunity if there is student demand, and department need to extend teaching into summer months. This position is for the business certificate and associate degree programs at the USU Eastern campus in Price, Utah. The appointment is 95% teaching and 5% service. Under the direction of the of Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), the Director of Mental Wellness for Athletics will provide counseling and psychological services to the student-athlete community, and will have direct oversight of the mental wellness and mental performance aspect of the USU Athletics Department. This position will be a member of CAPS, but will be primarily housed within USU Athletics. They will maintain dual reporting lines to CAPS Director (primary supervisor) and the Associate Athletics Director – Director of Sports Medicine. This is a 12-month position on the USU-Logan campus.
The Director of Mental Wellness for Athletics will work with approximately 400 student athletes and 21 athletic teams. They must be able to work within a team dynamic and view the student athlete from a holistic perspective. This position will be a valuable addition to, and member of, the Utah State University Athletics Student Athlete Wellness Team (SAWT). The SAWT is a multidisciplinary team that is intricately involved in the health and wellbeing of the student athletes.
The Director of Mental Wellness for Athletics will be responsible for coordinating mental wellness programs and support for the USU Athletics Department. They will provide services such as, but not limited to, brief individual therapy, crisis interventions, consultations with coaches and other Athletics staff, mental health assessments, mental health education to student athletes and sports programs, drug and alcohol counseling, eating disorder and disordered eating evaluations, ADD/ADHD evaluations, and other services that fall under the scope of student athlete mental wellness. There will be some weekends and after-hours requirements, depending on the needs of the student athletes.
