  • Overview

    The Department of Biological Engineering at Utah State University seeks applications for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Candidates must have an earned PhD in Biological Engineering or a related engineering discipline. The ideal candidate must demonstrate potential for, or a strong record of, externally funded research, publications, teaching competency, and professional leadership. Candidates are expected to build a vigorous program of funded innovative research with potential for collaborations in the department, college and university and to be an excellent teacher at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. This is an academic-year (9 month) term-appointment with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct research and other scholarly activities, including the pursuit of a strong externally funded research program
    • Effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses
    • Mentor students in research activities
    • Commitment to department, university and community service
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. PhD in biological engineering or a related engineering discipline from a prominent and accredited university.
    2. Evidence of established or emerging research stream(s) with potential for extramural support and publication.
    3. Record of success or potential for effective teaching and mentoring.
    4. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1. Record of strong peer-reviewed publications in an emerging technical field of interest to the department, such as bioinformatics.
    2. Record of success or potential in obtaining external funding.
    3. Potential to collaborate with existing BE faculty on externally funded projects.
    4. Post-doctoral or relevant industrial experience.
