This position will be the Math and Stats Tutor for USU Brigham Campus, tutoring students in the following online or broadcast courses:

  • Math 0950 Pre-Algebra
  • Math 0995 College Mathematics Preparation
  • Math 1050 College Algebra
  • Math 1060 Trigonometry
  • Stat 1040 Intro to Statistics
  • Stat 1045 Intro to Statistics with Elements of Algebra


This position will plan for, and conduct scheduled appointments to help individuals or small groups of students with help on homework, review for exams, or explanation of concepts recently discussed in classes. This is an ACA variable, part-time (6-10 hours per week)

  1. This person will work with the Program Coordinator III and faculty from the Math and Statistics Department to ensure successful development of the tutoring program.
  2. Maintain records of students attending and types of assistance provided.
  3. Work 6 to 10 hours per week while courses are in session.
  4. Assist students in developing skills to find answers for themselves.
  5. Consult with instructors about course materials to determine academic needs.
  6. Share resources from USU's Academic Success Model with students to aid in test preparation and review.
  7. Create a comfortable, respectful learning environment during sessions, promoting active learning.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge and proficiency in Math and Statistics, and explaining the concepts to students.
  2. Ability to provide multiple methods of assistance to meet individual student needs.
  3. Ability to work independently and be dependable.
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information.
  5. Successful completion of college math courses.
  6. Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous teaching or tutoring experience
  2. Statistics experience
