Overview

Utah State University is looking for a qualified candidate to fill a full time position in the USU Aggie Creamery, working in the Gary H. Richardson Dairy Products Laboratory as a Food Processing Technician. The qualified candidate will be part of a dynamic team that is directly involved with the success of The Aggie Creamery in Teaching, Research, and Production of high quality dairy products.

Responsibilities

Successful candidate's primary responsibilities include:

  • Making cheese, production of ice cream, and processing fluid milk. 
  • Keeping the plant environment clean; directly involved with dismantling, cleaning, set up, and operation of all other dairy processing equipment in the plant.
  • Testing of finished product to ensure safety and quality by microbial testing, equipment testing and plant inspections.
  • Inventory control and the upkeep of our in-house printing data base, of product nutritional information.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent time management, a self starter, and working independently is a must.
  • Be prompt, teachable, willing to assist others, and ready to be a part of a great team environment.
  • Knowledge and use of computer programs (Excel, Word, Database) is an essential qualification of this position.
  • Previous dairy processing, microbial testing, or lab experience is desired, but not necessary.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. Employee is frequently required to lift 50 pounds, bend, reach, and work on their feet for extended periods of time. Employee is required to work in cold (freezer) and wet (cleaning) environments.
