Overview

The Public & School Partnership, based out of the USU Center for Persons with Disabilities, is hiring for its Project Director position. The person in this position plans, coordinates, and oversees all day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of the organization, and she/he reports directly to the Department Head of the Center for Persons with Disabilities. The Project Director will be in charge of a team of 5-6 office staff/personnel, over 35 AmeriCorps VISTA members, and at least 20 community, university, school-based partnerships.

Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Designs, coordinates, and implements the aspects of the organization.
  2. Serves as a principal liaison between organization and department staff, other departments, VISTA members, VISTA site partners, and other external partners; oversees and engages in development of new placement and funding partnerships. 
  3. Facilitates and oversees training conferences, meetings, service projects, recognition events, and other events of the organization.
  4. Coordinates and oversees activities of staff, consultants, volunteers, and partners engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives.
  5. Prepares and submits AmeriCorps VISTA grant proposal; oversees organizational purchases and revenues; prepares and submits invoices for payment. 
  6. Coordinates and provides training for full-time and hourly staff members. 
  7. Assesses and communicates organization staff and VISTA member performance; oversees disciplinary action, as needed. 
  8. Oversees development of promotional materials, educational materials, training materials, newsletters, and/or brochures, etc.
  9. Collects and analyzes data; prepares and submits federal and department-requested data reports. 
  10. Oversees and/or carries out various clerical and administrative support tasks, including hiring, purchasing, and development and editing of organization handbook, reports, and other publications.
  11. Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience;
  • OR a master’s degree in a related field;
  • OR an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed service or at least 2 years work experience with AmeriCorps VISTA program, other CNCS-funded program, or Peace Corps
  • Highly professional verbal and written communication
  • Experience managing data systems, manipulating and aggregating data, presenting data appropriately
  • Experience with federal grant writing and federal reporting systems
  • Experience working in a university setting, preferably in a full-time administrative role
  • Experience managing a diverse team of individuals and ability to delegate tasks directly and in a timely manner
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, punctual, responsive

CPD Funding Statement

The Center for Persons with Disabilities is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee for service programs.
