This Office Assistant position will provide office and financial support to the Business Services grants team for the Statewide Campuses Department. The successful candidate will initiate, complete, and perform financial functions as assigned. The Office Assistant will be highly organized, possess strong computer skills, and demonstrate excellent communication skills with colleagues, supervisors, and grant personnel.


This is currently a part-time, non-benefited position and will be based at the Logan and/or Price campus working an average of 20-25 hours per week.


  • Submits labor reallocations for grant personnel.
  • Reviews and reconciles grant financial records through index reconciliations.
  • Completes journal entries as needed.
  • Generates Banner/Argos reports for grant management for data analyzation
  • Assists Business Manager and Grants Management Team in all Statewide Campuses aspects
  • Provide office support in document retention, training, procedure development, filing, scanning, and other office duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of related work experience OR an associate degree in a related field is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including experience with formulas and spreadsheets), Windows, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work without supervision and as a team member.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, as well as active listening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in grant/research management.
  • Experience with Banner and/or Argos finance modules.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of USU financial policies.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to independently manage workload and task timelines.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
