This position is responsible for the greeting and welcoming of guests at Utah State University events in a professional manner, along with other duties.  




  • Greet guests and welcome them to Utah State University in a friendly and professional manner
  • Scan or tear tickets to allow entry into the event. Identify fraudulent tickets. Deny those who do not possess valid credentials.
  • In order to maintain the safety of the campus and other visitors, enforce "banned item" rules and communicate the need for compliance to these rules.
  • Allow access to restricted areas to those with valid credentials.
  • Seat guests in an orderly fashion, providing directions and resolving seating problems when necessary.
  • Assist guests with questions, comments, complaints, or suggestions. Act as a source for information. Follow-up when necessary.
  • Provide assistance for guests who may have special needs.
  • Refer uncooperative guests to supervisors or security, assist in ejecting disorderly guests when necessary.
  • Have knowledge of individual responsibility and procedure in the case of an emergency.
  • Adhere to safety rules and assist guests in the case of an emergency. Document accidents or injuries when necessary.
  • Ensure exit pathways are properly lit and that nothing obstructs them. Hold doors open and wish farewell to guests on exit.
  • Enforce individual event/venue rules and provide others services as denoted by venue.
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • For security reasons, search incoming bags the patrons bring into the venue.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • US Work Authorization is required.
  • Prefer three months experience with customer service.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and handle difficult situations with the public and guests in a calm & professional manner.
  • Employees must maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance.
  • Hours will vary depending on season and number of events at venues. Hours may include: nights, weekends & holidays.
  • Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Advertised Salary

$8.75 per hour


The position requires some physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects (20+ pounds). Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Employees must also be prepared to stand, walk, ascend, and descend stairs for most of your shift, which is an average of four hours. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees may work outdoors, may not be protected from weather conditions or contaminants, and may be exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations.
