Overview

Under the direction of the Venue Operations Manager, the Facilities Service Representative is responsible for providing varying services during athletic events and to outside groups using university venues. Normal duties will include daily custodial support at University venues as needed. Responsible for assisting Venue Operations Manager in leading, training, and organizing the Event Operations crew at Utah State University. A flexible schedule is required as the job does include working nights, weekends and holidays as events dictate.

 

Shift hours are: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Hours on event days are subject to change, depending on the needs of the event)

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the manager, organizes Operations Crew to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Coordinates weekly work assignments.
  • Provides services during events using university venues.
  • Assists in the training of part-time employees. 
  • Cleans, refinishes, and maintains a variety of floor coverings.
  • Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies.
  • Removes snow and ice from all exits, entrances, fire escape exits, and handicap ramps.
  • Works with internal and external customers to ensure that their needs are being met and works to continuously improve the system.
  • Assists with ensuring proper procedures are followed in the use of chemicals and equipment when cleaning is being performed at Utah State.
  • Enforces proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Promotes personal safety of crew members by monitoring, evaluating, and enforcing safe behaviors.  
  • Assists in maintaining adequate stock of cleaning supplies used for assigned areas. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • One year of commercial cleaning experience is required.
  • Experience with working events.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, depending on the events schedule.
  • Effective written and oral English communication skills.
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely.
  • Basic understanding of computers.
  • Forklift certified (if hired without certification, must pass test within 3 months of hire date).
  • Applicant must possess skills in the following areas: decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, team work, attention to detail, and be dependable and punctual in their work responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in “Responsibilities”.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience working events in a university setting.
  • Supervisory experience demonstrating effective leadership skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects.  Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting.
