Overview

The Business Intelligence Analyst in the Office of Analysis, Assessment, & Accreditation performs simultaneous and interconnecting activities that advance the data-informed mission of Utah State University.  Duties include extracting, organizing, designing, and maintaining data and dashboards for stakeholders across campus, ensuring a high level of understanding and usability for all stakeholders. 

This position will report to the Assistant Director of Business Intelligence & Reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with stakeholders to determine business intelligence data needs.
  • Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes data.
  • Collaborates with Programmer/Analyst to design and develop specific reports/tools for collection, tracking, and reporting of data as appropriate.
  • May write code to create views and extract data from multiple databases.
  • Creates data visualizations and dashboards in Tableau.
  • May provide training on Tableau and other data science programs for the education of the campus community.
  • Serves on committees as requested.
  • Proposes and implements solutions as appropriate to assist management in planning.
  • Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 2 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze data and generate reports.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Knowledge of Tableau.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and drive to innovate.
  • Ability to work with various stakeholders across an organization.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to learn and deploy new skills and knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience using Tableau for data review and analysis.
  • Ability to write custom queries using SQL.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel for data review and analysis.
  • Ability to utilize statistical computer software for data analysis.
