The Graphic Design Assistant/VIG (Visual Identity Guide) consultant at Aggie Print would be responsible for pre-flighting all incoming print files for production at Aggie Print. Each file would be inspected and made sure it meets the minimum requirements for printing, while making sure it meets the standards of the University VIG .

You will often work with UMAC in making decisions based on set policy; as needed, you will help make corrections to files, as well as design projects that meet both standards mentioned above.


This position has funding for 1 year, with the possibility of becoming permanent.


  • Accurately and efficiently process all incoming files for print production: digital printing, offset printing, wide format, screen printing, embroidery, engraving, promotional, etc.
  • Evaluate all files to make sure they meet the standards for printing: file size, bleeds, crop marks, etc.
  • Evaluate all files to make sure they meet the standards set by the University VIG: correct logo, correct placement, proper use, etc.
  • Collaborate with customer service representatives at Aggie Print in creating new designs for customers.
  • Collaborate with UMAC on orders that do not meet such expectations as set in the VIG.
  • Help to prepare all print files approved for production.
  • Help to track all print files that need assistance before moving into production.
  • Fixing files so they can move into production.
  • Help to enter incoming jobs into print management software (EPMS).
  • Oversee, enter, and track the jobs entered into Brand Manager (all promotional items).
  • As assigned, design projects for departments at the University.
  • Work with UMAC to maintain accurate, current logo files in archive.
  • Assist with customer service responsibilities: answer phones, emails and other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year related work experience. 
  • Knowledge and experience using Adobe products, Microsoft programs and other print software programs.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Project management skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret policy fairly and consistently.
  • Ability to understand and define workflows for multi-step processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a busy office environment, and to be a team player.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft, etc.
  • Experience working within the structure of a visual identity guide.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience with Banner, ServiceNow, Box, Canvas, and Argos.
