The Business Manager II position reports to the Finance Officer for the Quinney College of Natural Resources. The successful applicant will manage and direct the activities of the Business Service transaction center which includes; travel, p-card, requisition, and wage/hourly payroll related functions.  

The Business Manager II is part of Utah State University's Business Services organization with assignment to the Quinney College of Natural Resources.


  • Supervises the employees working in the transaction center.
  • Coordinates and directs work assignments, training, improvement initiatives, and problem resolution. 
  • Reviews and approves financial transactions that flow through, or that are initiated by the transaction center for proper funding.
    • Adherence to applicable accounting principles and institutional policy and procedures.
  • Monitors and coordinates activities of the service center enterprises that are functioning with the college.
  • Cooperatively works with the College Grant Manager to provide financial oversight, and support to faculty and student researchers.
  • Assists the Financial Officer in budget planning, financial reporting to leadership, and reconciliation and analysis of college accounts.


Minimum Qualifications:      

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field plus three years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team building and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and MS Office software programs.
  • Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and work without close supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills, integrity, discretion, and a strong work ethic. 

Preferred Qualifications:              

  • 5-8 years of directly related work experience with increasing levels of responsibilities.
  • Familiarity in University contract and grant financial management and fund accounting.
  • Experience using USU Banner System & Banner operations or a similar management information system in a university setting.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining databases.
