Incumbents in the Business Assistant series use knowledge and related experience to coordinate business functions for Aggie Creamery.  Incumbents initiate, complete, and facilitate financial, personnel, travel, and other functions as assigned.


The Business Assistant will report to the Business Manager of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences Department. This classification has no supervisory responsibilities.


Utah State University’s Aggie Creamery is housed in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Sciences and is part of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.  The Creamery consists two financial accounts commonly referred to as, the Dairy Products Lab and Aggie Ice Cream. This is a 30 hours per week position. 



  • Attaches receipts for Aggie Creamery purchases.
  • Purchases supplies, ingredients and packaging materials in accordance with University policies and practices.
  • Reviews and reconciles financial records.
  • Evaluates monthly budgets and financial reports for The Aggie Creamery.
  • Coordinates and attends various meetings.
  • Prepares invoices and requests payments.
  • Processes Aggie Creamery transmittals.
  • Maintains files for review or audit.
  • Maintains inventory system for production and sales.
  • Processes hiring paperwork and EPAF requests.
  • Processes Aggie Ice Cream wholesale contracts.
  • Prepares travel arrangements and documents in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Generates reports.
  • Develops and maintains spreadsheets, and databases to track information.
  • Prepares monthly milk statements, and submit monthly promotion assessments.
  • Manages accounts payable/receivable.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualification for Business Assistant I: 

  • Two years of related work experience; or an associate degree/technical training in a related field is required.

Minimum Qualification for Business Assistant II: 

  • Four years of related work experience; or a bachelors degree/technical training in a related field is required.
