Healthy Relationships Utah, a USU Extension initiative, seeks multiple Stepfamily Education Coordinators (SECs) around the state. As part of a 5-year federal grant, SECs will be responsible for implementing family-life education programming targeted to couples where one or both adults have children from a previous relationship. Programming will occur primarily online but may include some in-person teaching in Utah. Programming promotes relationship skills, parenting and co-parenting skills, and the economic stability of stepfamilies.
Depending on the need and geographical service area(s), positions will either be 50%, 75%, or 100% (full-time); excellent University benefits are included with an approximate value of 45% of your annual salary (see https://hr.usu.edu/benefits/). Continued employment is contingent upon performance and on-going grant funding.
Stepfamily Education Coordinators (Coordinator Senior) must have a strong desire to strengthen and support stepfamilies. Requirements include reliable transportation to get to partnership venues. Stepfamily Education Coordinators will not be provided an office but must have access to reliable internet and a home office or workspace to facilitate online classes. The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (http:/hdfs.usu.edu) is one of 8 diverse departments and 3 distinguished centers in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education & Human Sciences (http://www.cehs.usu.edu). The College is ranked in the top 2% among 1200 comparable universities. The department has 30 faculty members, over 500 undergraduate majors, and over 80 graduate students. Extension Specialists within the department and college oversee research-based programs around the state. Their relationship education programs include courses for fathers, individuals who are single, dating, married, divorced and remarried.
