Overview

Assist the Marketing Lead and Health and Wellness Program Coordinators in the Office of Health, Equity, and Community Engagement in completing grant-funded objectives and promoting evidence-based health and wellness programming, outreach, and education across counties in Utah. Current programming includes opioid harm reduction education, and community engagement around substance use disorder resources.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, creative individual with a passion for connecting with an online audience. This position has the responsibility of building and engaging our community on a consistent basis with the ultimate goal of growing the online audience through electronic reach. An essential component is communicating the OHECE brand and mission, and program messages in a consistent, positive, and authentic way that will attract treatment professionals, at-risk populations, and community members to connect with us.

 

This position will assist the marketing team with creating deliberate and intentional social media strategies that deliver results and meet grant objectives through organic and paid advertising. The strategy will grow support USU brand awareness and build off our expanding online presence.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Marketing Lead, marketing team and program coordinators to develop content for all current and future social media platforms accounts (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn).
  • Monitor and engage with comments posted on OHECE and individual program social channels daily to maintain constant activity.
  • Respond appropriately to notifications and messages on all OHECE and individual program accounts in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and analyze marketing campaign data utilizing reporting functions such as Google Analytics and Facebook Insights.
  • Work effectively under deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously, as well as maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Create relevant, original, high-quality content (for all channels and platforms) that consistently deliver the program identity, while ensuring all design guidelines are maintained.
  • Assist with managing a content editorial calendar to plan general content, and specific and timely marketing campaigns based on seasonal events.
  • May assist Marketing Lead and Program Coordinators with video/audio editing and production, print design and copywriting as needed.
  • Be a creative problem solver, with a proactive work ethic.
  • May perform general office duties, including scheduling, answering calls and emails, and assisting team members, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience or an associate degree/technical training is required
  • Demonstrated experience and passion for engaging audiences via all social media channels (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn).
  • Strong understanding of social media positioning, including cross-platform engagement.
  • Ability to identify appropriate influencers to create a broad network of relevant newsfeed resources.
  • General understanding of media promotion and marketing.
  • Ability to work remotely with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with general public, college staff, team members, at-risk populations and Substance Use Disordered communities (may include cultural sensitivities as well as population-specific needs).
  • High degree of self-motivation is a must.
  • Ability to work independently and as an engaged team member.
  • Ability to travel throughout area of responsibility consistent with university policy.
  • Strong organizational, time, and project management skills.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or combination of degrees, professional licensure, and experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of graphic design.
  • Experience in social media marketing and promotion.
  • Experience in expanding social media reach.
  • Understanding of social media algorithms and developing trends.
  • Website management experience.
  • Experience with video and photo editing.
  • Audio mixing and recording experience helpful.
  • Understanding of harm reduction as a public health framework for reducing risky behavior.
  • Understanding of or experience with substance use disorders.
  • Desire to help prevent overdose deaths and reduce stigma around harm reduction.
  • Basic knowledge of public health campaigns, opioid reduction strategies, and health communications.
