The Army 4-H STEM Club Program is located at the Dugway Proving Grounds. The coordinator does not need to live on base. There are three primary purposes for the program:

  1. To empower CYS staff and volunteers in delivering experience-based STEM programming to military youth
  2. To create a stronger collaboration between Dugway and local and state 4-H STEM programming
  3. To provide military youth with engaging STEM experiences that will encourage STEM interest and involvement in the future

The program coordinator will oversee the day-to-day running of the program and assist with training Dugway Proving Ground Child and Youth Services staff and youth interns. Additionally, the coordinator will purchase supplies, recruit youth interns, and provide programmatic support as needed to implement STEM clubs.


This is a part-time (20 hours/week) grant funded position from February through August 2021.


  • Use innovative and creative strategies for recruiting youth interns, volunteers, and program participants
  • Provide training to youth interns and Dugway Child and Youth Services (DCYS) staff
  • Work well with program leaders, local 4-H staff, youth interns, DCYS staff, and volunteers to fulfill grant objectives
  • Purchase and deliver supplies in a timely manner to DCYS staff
  • Maintain and document budget activities and provide monthly reports
  • Work to measure program goals and objectives, evaluate program success, and produce program reports and impact sheets
  • Other program responsibilities as needed


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate with youth and adult audiences in person and in writing
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Computer literacy including word processing, spreadsheets, internet and E-mail
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently without direct supervision
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An understanding of the military family culture
  • Knowledge of and experience with a branch of the US Military
  • Experience recruiting and training adult and/or youth
  • Experience with project management

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
