The purpose of this position is to coordinate the Army Wounded Warrior Youth Camp in partnership with youth camp leaders and community volunteers. The camp is scheduled for July 19 through July 23, 2021. The Camp Coordinator will work to recruit youth leaders, camp participants, and adult volunteers. This person will provide training to the youth leaders and the adult volunteers as well as coordinate all the camp logistics including camp workshop lessons, activities, and travel.


The Coordinator will start in early February and will work 29 hours per week. The week of the camp will be 40 hours. This is a grant funded position that lasts through August of 2021.


  • Use innovative and creative strategies for recruiting youth interns, volunteers, and program participants.
  • Work with youth interns and volunteers to fill in and implement camp plans and logistics.
  • Facilitate the camp with youth interns as primary leaders.
  • Plan and organize travel.
  • Maintain and document budget activities and provide monthly reports.
  • Stay up-to-date on COVID-19 guidelines and regularly revise and update contingency plans as needed.
  • Work to fulfill camp goals and objectives, evaluate program success, and produce program reports and impact sheets.
  • Communicate and collaborate with camp partners.
  • Other program responsibilities as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with youth and adult audiences in person and in writing.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Must be able and willing to work some nights and weekends, primarily during the week of camp.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy including word processing, spreadsheets, internet and E-mail.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently without direct supervision.
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass a background check.


Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of the military and/or veteran family culture.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a branch of the US Military.
  • Experience recruiting and training adult volunteers.
  • Experience with event planning.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
