Under the supervision of the Family and Consumer Sciences/4H Extension Agent, the Family & Consumer Sciences Extension Assistant will assist in promoting and organizing educational classes and programming. Experience and skills in Family & Consumer Sciences (home ec) areas mandatory. Must be a self starter and able to work independently with little supervision once instruction is given.


The position is part time and will involve some weekend and evening work. A background check will be mandatory. This position is housed in Tooele, UT.


  • Must be able to start position by no later than July 15.
  • Assistant will work with Family & Consumer Sciences/4H agent to plan and conduct July youth camps on such topics as: cooking, sewing, cosplay.
  • Be heavily involved helping with Tooele County Fair preparation and activities July 30-August 5.
  • Assist with planning and preparing programs in family and consumer sciences areas for both youth and adults such as healthy living, family and personal finance, nutrition and physical activity.


  • Experience and skills in Family & Consumer Sciences (home ec) areas are necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assist agent in planning and running classes and camps for youth and adults including: personal finances, sewing, cooking, cloverbuds (K-2nd grade 4Hers), youth entrepreneurship, cosplay.
  • These skills would be helpful but are not required:
  • Experience in running facebook groups, promoting events and campaigns through social media.
  • Experience presenting in public, writing for publications, planning programs . Experience in grant writing.

Advertised Salary

$12.00 per hour


Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
