Overview

This is an hourly full-time, two-year temporary position working under the direction of the University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) Art Director. Its primary responsibility is to support the UMAC design team by taking their creative work into production and managing the team's digital assets. The ideal candidate will have an excellent Adobe Creative Cloud working skill set, and a willingness to become technically expert within Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Lightroom. The candidate will also have a comprehensive understanding of visual communication principles, as well as a basic understanding of marketing and advertising design.

As Design Production Coordinator you will:

- Spearhead the production components of all materials created by the UMAC design team.

- Ensure all digital files are properly prepared and archived.

- Be a creative leader within UMAC, i.e., offering solutions to digital asset management, as well as creative and production processes.

Responsibilities

Daily activities/projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with standardization of technical design operations. Examples of this include creating building blocks within UMAC's workflow management system and helping establish technical design processes.
  • Organizing and maintaining digital asset archives. 
  • Printing large-format marketing collateral in house and with licensed vendors; managing and ordering print supplies, as well as maintaining large-format Epson printer.
  • Building out design templates, audit, and convert files to make them consistent and American Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible.
  • Preparing print files for production, troubleshooting and fixing them as needed.
  • Managing and coordinating UMAC's design/creative awards entries throughout the year. 
  • Updating and managing the UMAC marketing team's website presence using the OU Campus content management system. 
  • Assisting the UMAC photographer with image editing on an as needed basis.
  • Managing and completing assigned projects with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
  • Accepting other production responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field and/or equivalent production experience.

- Experience in advertising and marketing design.

- Must be fluent with Adobe Creative Cloud.

- Must possess a comprehensive understanding of printing and pre-press requirements for preparing artwork for production.

- Must have flexible work schedule for projects that go beyond 8-5.

- Must be technical, detailed oriented and have excellent design and communication skills.

- Certifications in Adobe Creative Cloud are a plus.
