Overview

Receive and process emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical, security or other emergency services. Gather essential information from callers and dispatch the appropriate first responders to the scene. Must be organized, adept at multi-tasking, level-headed, and trustworthy. Expected work hours will include Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays Day/Swing/Grave Shifts. Part-Time Hours up to 28 per week. No Benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Uses a computer-aided dispatch system to: receive emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical or other emergency services. Determine the nature and location of the emergency; determine priorities, and dispatch police, or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Dispatch maintenance and other university personnel to incidents that require immediate action to ensure the safety and security of the campus.
  • Closely monitor emergency and life-safety systems and alarms, such as fire detection, intrusion detection, access control, and security cameras.
  • Maintains contact with all units on assignment, maintain status and location of police.
  • Answers non-emergency calls for assistance.
  • Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems.
  • Receive requests for information regarding vehicle registration, driving records and warrants, and provides pertinent data.
  • Monitor several complex public safety radio frequencies.
  • Operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Applicant must pass criminal background check
