If hired as an Early Intervention provider, you will play a key role in the South East Early Intervention Program, serving children birth to three with disabilities and/or developmental delays in Emery, Carbon, and Grand counties. You will administer assessments and participate in the team determination of a child’s eligibility for Early Intervention services. You will conduct in-person or virtual visits to families in their home or in the community, providing strategies and activities to guide parents in promoting their child’s growth and development. We seek someone who will be a collaborative and reflective provider with an understanding of global child development, infant mental health, and a passion for working on behalf of the healthy development of children and their caregivers. Your home office will be located on the Utah State University Eastern campus in Price.


South East Early Intervention Program (SEEIP) operates under Utah State University’s Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice (IDRPP). SEEIP is one of 15 early intervention programs of the Utah Department of Health’s Baby Watch Early Intervention Program.

  • Serve as a service coordinator and/or developmental specialist service provider to assigned early intervention families.
    • Administer and interpret developmental evaluations, screeners, and family assessments as assigned.
    • Facilitate and/or participate in the team determination of eligibility for early intervention services.
    • Collaborate with all interested parties to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for each child who qualifies for services.
    • Provide early intervention services to infants and toddler and their families via in-person and/or virtual visits in the family’s home or other community setting.
    • Provide support to parents to address child and family needs by providing education, information, and resources through a coaching service delivery model. You will tailor the family service plan to meet the individual needs of each family by developing strategies to build on family concerns, priorities, and resources.
  • Enter complete, accurate and timely documentation in the Baby Watch data system for each of the children on your caseload.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with SEEIP staff and related agencies.
  • Accept other job-related assignments as assigned by Program Coordinator.
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and staff meetings as directed.
  • Review and monitor child files for compliance and completeness.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development, special education, social work, human development and family studies, or other related degree
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Willingness to obtain the Baby Watch Early Intervention Specialist Credential within 6 months of hire.
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • A history of dependability, organizational skills, and initiative as demonstrated by two letters of recommendation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Write and speak Spanish fluently

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Become familiar with and follow USU, Baby Watch and SEEIP policies and procedures.
  • Understand and explain the early intervention process and parental rights to families
  • Use of technology to host and conduct Zoom meetings and use an electronic database.
  • Knowledge of infant and toddler development
  • Ability to administer, interpret and integrate assessment and evaluation information needed to develop individualized plans

Funding Statement

The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee for service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
