Incumbents in the Program Assistant series perform a combination of program-related and/or administrative functions that support community, social, instructional, and/or research programs; and/or coordinate people, events, or facilities.


  • Provides support to 4-H Program Coordinator and USU Extension Faculty.
  • Organize and attend camps and clubs related to STEM, Agriculture, Horticulture, & small and large animal including livestock & Horse.
  • Represents the 4-H program in a positive manner throughout the community.
  • Seeks ways to improve efficiency of services and develops processes to streamline procedures.
  • Helps in facilitating larger 4-H events and programs such as Achievement Nights, Contests, and the County Fair.
  • Coordinates 4-H programs and activities with 4-H FCS program assistant, 4-H West program assistant, 4-H program coordinator, 4-H after school coordinator, and faculty.
  • Recruits 4-H participants and volunteers.
  • Trains 4-H volunteers and club leaders.
  • Provides a quarterly news column on specific 4-H topics.
  • Serves as the liaison between USU Extension and Juab County Livestock Committee, including attending all committee meetings.
  • Assists with 4-H program as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with 4-H and Livestock programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Field specific knowledge regarding agriculture, horticulture, and STEM.
  • Ability to take initiative and work without close supervision.
  • Effective communication.
  • Event organization skills.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Understanding of 4-H program and Extension.

Advertised Salary

$12.50 per hour


Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
