The Brigham City Region of USU is seeking a qualified Network Systems Specialist to oversee our dynamic distance education system and infrastructure. This technologically based individual will ensure that our interactive video conference system (IVC) operates seamlessly. They will be in charge of computer hardware, software, and components for teaching stations, computer labs, and works stations. With a positive can-do attitude, they will see that server systems, displays, and communications occur flawlessly.   • Maintain server operations with Linux, OS, Unix, and other operating systems.
  • Oversee the continual operation of hard wired and wireless network systems.
  • Install and update software on Microsoft and Mac platformed computers as well as audit and maintain systems for security threats.
  • Connect and install components (printers, scanners, cameras, etc.) and ensure operation.
  • Maintain computer and testing labs.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain individual and classroom computers.
  • Ensure operation software housed on local hard drives, local servers, and offsite cloud-based servers.
  • Maintain and control email lists.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Interactive Video Conference (IVC) systems and components.
  • Manage digital content and electronic displays as well as network service systems.
  • Travel throughout the region (Tremonton, Brigham City, Kaysville) to maintain systems.
  • Effectively communicate plans, updates, and completed tasks with pertinent parties.
  • Complete tasks efficiently, without oversight, and perform quality work.
  • Maintain positive vendor contacts and positive relations with the main campus.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or certification in a related field plus four years of related work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of work plus experience is required.

  • Positive personality that is inviting and engaging as well as positive personal hygiene.
  • Strong customer service background orientation and “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to work in a team setting with a service-oriented attitude and a desire to strive for continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry or educational certificates that relate to the position.
  • Knowledge about USU policies and procedures.
  • Experience working in an educational setting.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
