Overview

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is seeking a person to assist the ECE Store Manager. The ECE Store provides services to students and faculty in the ECE Department. This position would involve part-time work in the near term (working hourly) as an assistant to the ECE Store Manager and transitioning to become the ECE Store Manager (a salaried full-time position) in the future. The Assistant to the Store Manager will learn the responsibilities of the Store Manager and will help to carry out those responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing, selecting, and training student employees.
  • Checkout equipment to students and faculty. Check in returned equipment.
  • Complete sale of electronic components and kits to students.
  • Handle cash including deposits at the Cashier’s Office.
  • Assist students and faculty with external purchasing.
  • Reconcile accounts related to the ECE Store.
  • Help to maintain and organize equipment and furniture (e.g. lab benches and chairs) in educational labs, research labs, and other student spaces in the department.
  • Conduct yearly inventory audit.
  • Conduct yearly space usage audit (research facilities, teaching facilities, lab facilities, storage, etc.).
  • Gather and tag miscellaneous items to be sent to USU Surplus Sales.

Qualifications

  • Cheerful, team-player, and interested in working with students, faculty, and staff in the ECE Department.
  • Computer software: Excel, Word, Outlook (e-mail), Adobe Acrobat.

This position requires moderate physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. This position requires nearly continuous standing, repetitive hand motions, and reaching overhead.
