Incumbents in the Technical Coordinator series provide audiovisual guidance, advisement, and technical and logistical support for events, meetings, classes, and conferences held in the assigned department or building.


Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

The Technical Coordinator l will report to Program Coordinator lll; D. Nonie Icedo Romero . This classification will train and guide hourly and /or student employees.


Typical Functions

  1. Troubleshoots, repairs minor technical problems.
  2. Coordinates event support, which includes, room setups, ensuring safety of patrons, enforcing policies and procedures, working with and communicating with the faculty and public. 
  3. Schedules part-time employees and personnel according to the needs of the schedules and /or event.
  4. Schedules IVC events (Interactive Video Conference) to classrooms.
  5. Assist Statewide Scheduler with Spring, Summer and Fall schedule.
  6. Facilitates and supervise IVC events/classes each semester.
  7. Coordinate annual UETN (Utah Education Telehealth Network) trainings with part-time employees each year under the supervision of the Program Coordinator lll.
  8. Train newly hired Classroom Facilitators. Conduct an onboarding system for new hires.
  9. Coordinate regular staff meetings with part-time employees.
  10. On call after hours, and some weekends when needed, respond to issues with classes, classrooms, and /or part-time employees on campus.
  11. Operates technical equipment throughout class and /or events.
  12. Maintains records and creates reports as requested for each semester. 
  13. Perform office duties including checking the mailbox, maintaining files, producing and preparing daily logs, and other duties as assigned.
  14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of audio and video application for events, including sound, lighting, projection, and staging.
  2. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  3. Ability to train and guide hourly and/or student employees.
  4. Skilled with computers and programs, including Word and Excel.
  5. Ability to maintain accurate records.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  7. Ability to learn new systems.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Employees must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds and retrieve and transport audiovisual equipment.
