Overview

The USU Department of Biological Engineering seeks an energetic, collaborative team player skilled in marketing and communication, stakeholder engagement, and team building to facilitate the department’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ongoing outreach and recruitment initiatives to attract future biological engineering students to the program and to build ongoing relationships with relevant K-12 and 4-year institutions in the Intermountain area
  • Originate and evolve marketing and communication initiatives to engage alumni and future stakeholders in biological engineering institutions in the Intermountain area in department initiatives
  • Organize and coordinate regular social interactions among faculty, staff and students and external stakeholders to foster community-building and encourage interactions
  • Coordinate and grow an annual technical conference, an advisory board meeting, and participation in university sponsored conferences that engage faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders from industry and government in biological engineering
  • Prepare reports and presentations to support outreach, marketing, social, ad technical activities and to disseminate outcomes and impacts of these activities
  • Create and distribute an annual newsletter describing department activities to faculty, staff, students, stakeholders and alumni
  • Maintain and update information about the biological engineering department on social media, the department website, and other outlets in coordination with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders
  • Initiate timely, clear ongoing communication among diverse stakeholders to engage students and faculty in biological engineering experiences
  • Plan, record, manage and assess use of resources including software and information systems to support timely completion of initiative objectives
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One to two years of experience in a related field
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in a relevant field
  • Skilled at conducting professional, effective, and efficient outreach, marketing, social, and technical communications and events
  • Demonstrated proficiency using the MS Office suite of programs and Qualtrics software
  • Demonstrated proficiency initiating and maintaining social media and web-based communications
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and resolve problems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize and advance multiple simultaneous workflows.
  • Ability to maintain a budget and track expenditures and transactions.
  • Ability to manage communications through web development, social media, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skilled with web content management systems, e.g., Wordpress, Sitefinity
