Overview

The Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences at Utah State University is seeking a Quality control manager (Lab Manager) for the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UVDL). Incumbents ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the laboratory and the safe use and maintenance of equipment and facilities.

 

Responsibilities

Quality manager:

  • Oversee all quality control documents, including standard operating procedures from the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHL
  • Maintain the laboratory's quality management software
  • Ensure all laboratory testing performed is done within established procedures
  • Oversee internal audits
  • Prepare for and successfully complete audits by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD)
  • Direct preventative and corrective actions
  • Ensure laboratory participation in requisite proficiency tests

Ensure laboratory participation in requisite proficiency tests

  • Receive, login, and distribute laboratory samples
  • Oversee ordering and distribution of tuberculin to veterinary practitioners
  • Answer client inquiries
  • Other tasks as necessary

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with quality control/quality assurance principals
  • Basic computing skills including word processing and use of spreadsheets
  • Excellent communicator
  • Work well with others

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Science or equivalent/comparable degree
  • Two years of quality management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in a science related field
  • Documented advanced QA training and certification.
