The Department of Applied Economics at Utah State University seeks applicants for a full-time Webmaster III to develop and maintain websites for SBDC (Small Business Development Center) program in Brigham City, Utah. The Webmaster will create and curate web pages, ensure that content is up to date and accurate, monitor website use and trends, and ensure that the visual identity and strategic priorities of the department, college, or program are reflected. 


  • Manage existing website, including updates to academic information, news, research, special events, etc.
  • Implements improved design, layout, and functionality of website.
  • Coordinates the publishing of web site content, user interface, look/feel and level of specificity to suit a wide range of needs.
  • Reviews, monitors, and updates the navigation architecture to improve load times.
  • Develops code and styling to improve appearance and functionality.
  • Develops new web pages and temporary special event sites and pages.
  • Monitors usage analytics and implements strategies to improve search engine results.
  • Codes websites using HTML or other web-based programming languages.
  • Works closely with department and/or program personnel to gather content material for pages.
  • Provides training for users as requested.
  • Coordinates with others to develop and implement standards and policies that ensure websites are logically organized, easily navigable, aesthetically pleasing, based on sound instructional design principles, and that published information is current, accurate, and easy to find.
  • Approves and manages user accounts for personnel on the webserver. 
  • Develops code, and possibly new apps to interface current website with CRM software. 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar, OR six years’ experience designing & building websites and apps, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • A working knowledge of designing responsive frameworks as well as managing and designing content within a CMS.

  • Experience with code refactoring, design patterns, RESTful APIs, continuous deployment and building highly scalable responsive applications.

  • Experience With modern front-end website development including HTML5, CSS3, Javascript & Javascript frameworks and browser compatibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with photography, videography, visual aids, etc.

  • Experience developing Kiosk applications, specifically using PWA written in javascript frameworks. 

  • Experince with NodeJS, React, React Hooks and Wbpack. 

  • Strong aptitude with Adobe Create Suite software.
