Overview

The Up to 3 Early Intervention Program at Utah State University is hiring 1 licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). The chosen applicant will provide COTA services to families with children under 3 who are eligible for early intervention services in the Up to 3 program. Services are provided at the child's home, virtually using zoom, or other community settings. This position is contingent upon funding. Join our dynamic team and work with experienced Occupational Therapists.This position may be between 30-40 hours depending on the applicant selected and the program needs. 

Responsibilities

  • Assess and provide appropriate strategies to support children who have developmental delays with feeding, sensory integration, and fine motor skills.
  • Demonstrate competence using observation & criterion referenced assessment to identify developmental delays in areas covered by scope of practice.
  • Individual coaching to parent(s) to assist the family of an Up To 3 child with strategies to support the child's learning in everyday routines and activities.
  • Under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist identify and implement services and strategies to meet the IFSP outcomes identified for each child.
  • Monitor child's progress to make sure that they are successfully meeting IFSP outcomes.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation.
  • Complete timely scheduling of home-based and virtual home visits.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum.
  • Current Utah DOPL license
  • Able to practice unencumbered
  • In good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
  • Access to reliable transportation to perform essential job functions
  • Must live within a reasonable driving distance to program services areas and be able to travel to provide home and community services in assigned area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual English & Spanish speaker

Funding Statement

The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
