Overview

The Marketing Assistant supports the mission at the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter by representing Swaner on social media and other online platforms. This individual will be able to create a cohesive online system that supports our environmental education and conservation programs. In addition to marketing responsibilities, this individual will be willing and able to support the team as needed in a variety of areas. Must be highly organized, flexible, detailed, team-oriented and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Work with staff members to innovate, manage and execute Swaner’s social media strategy with the goal to develop and increase followers and engagement across all social channels
  • Post events to community calendars and other local platforms
  • Connect with media sources and send out press releases
  • Maintain monthly data from social media accounts
  • Communicate proactively with staff to highlight ongoing and emerging stories
  • General office support as needed
  • Support with event planning and implementation
  • Back-up to Staff Assistant as needed. These duties may include, but are not limited to:
    • Weekly bank deposits
    • Website updates
    • Review webcam footage
  • Support other staff as needed. These duties may include, but are not limited to:
    • Vehicle support: coordinate maintenance, track mileage
    • Take photos and videos of activities and events
    • Process and input membership data from weekly reports
    • Assist with member and donor communications such as emailing new members, sending renewal reminders, or writing thank you notes

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Social media experience with multiple platforms
  • Passion for posting, creating buzz, and interacting with others online
  • Experience researching and analyzing online data to determine the best times and methods to garner the highest levels of engagement and interaction
  • Great with follow up and working within a team
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Professional work manner and positive demeanor
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Willingness and desire to learn new skills and expand knowledge base
  • Occasional flexibility in work schedule required for evening and weekend activities/events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with photography/videography
  • Experience designing artwork with programs like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish
  • Experience working in a university or non-profit setting
