Overview

University Marketing & Communications is looking for a creative and dependable individual to assist with the creation of photo content. We want an individual with proven experience, that is attentive to detail and has a creative eye. This position will report to our Director of Video and Imaging and work on a team of talented creatives. View examples of our work at usu.photoshelter.com.

 

As a photo assistant, you will assist the lead photographer in processing images, providing grip support on shoots and occasionally photographing campus events.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize assets – keywording/renaming in Lightroom
  • Provide grip support on shoots for the lead photographer
  • Understand post processing techniques to provide consistent images
  • Operate cameras, lenses and lighting
  • Take photos at events with and without the lead photographer
  • Detail oriented with prompt communication
  • Update status of tasks as they are completed in our project management software
  • Be a creative resource to the team

Qualifications

  • A passion for photography
  • Experience using cameras and lenses
  • Ability to complete tasks and work without direct supervision
  • Meticulousness and an eye for minute detail

Daytime availability is a must with occasional evening and weekend requirements. We can work with student schedules.

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
