Overview

Utah State University (USU) Libraries seeks an Assistant to support the Open Educational Resources (OER) Program. Working in a collaborative team environment, the Library Assistant will contribute to OER initiatives to promote awareness, development, and integration of quality OER across all disciplines at USU. The successful applicant will support the Program Manager in the administration and implementation of OER activities and related communication. As a member of the Digital Initiatives Unit, the Library Assistant contributes to unit, division, and library-wide planning and initiatives.

 

Reporting to the unit head of Digital Initiatives, this is a full-time benefited staff position. The Library is especially interested in promoting an environment of diversity and excellence throughout the institution and welcomes candidates committed to fostering diverse and inclusive environments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee searches for OER materials for instructors—including timelines, quality control, and communication
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees and their work
  • Support the OER Grant Program—including marketing, calls for proposals, applications, timelines, awards, publishing, data tracking, and student assistant hours
  • Coordinate with Program Manager to develop and oversee workflows and documentation
  • Participate in OER promotion and advocacy efforts including marketing, events, professional development, and other outreach opportunities across USU campuses and the open community
  • Contribute to creation and maintenance of website content
  • Provide support for training and consultations with faculty and students
  • Oversee data collection and tracking to contribute to assessment efforts
  • Collaborate with other library units as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of related experience; or an associate degree plus two years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including keen attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines and complete work assignments with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work collegially in a team environment and to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to be flexible and experiment with new tools and technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Airtable or other project management tools/databases and ability to identify and solve problems
  • Experience with supervision and training
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Pressbooks or other book creation platforms
  • Experience working in a higher education setting

Minimum salary is $32,000, plus excellent benefits.
