Working with the Assistant Athletic Director for Video Operations, the Digital Streaming Specialist (Multimedia Specialist I) is responsible for all aspects of live video production and daily needs including coaches video and creative content.


This position oversees and is responsible to ensure all cameras, staffing, and equipment is ready prior to the event.  Duties include, but are not limited to, live video productions of home athletic events, coaches’ shows, and press conferences. Additional responsibilities will include editing creative content, manage student staff, help maintain various social media accounts, research upgrades in editing software and hardware, attend developmental conferences, and general office duties as assigned. Must have a creative and innovative technical mind, be self motivated, and must be very resourceful.


  • Responsible for managing and producing live stream of home athletic events, coaches shows, and press conferences which includes all aspects from coordinating, planning, and scheduling through completion.
  • Daily needs will also include coach’s video and creative content projects.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure that all elements are working properly for live event coverage.
  • Work with various departments with Athletics to ensure sponsorship/advertisement fulfillment for live events is included as required.
  • Use creative skills to produce content
  • Hires, schedules, trains and guides student and/or volunteer staff.
  • Manage student workers and broadcasters to ensure broadcast-quality production.
  • Assess and utilize a full range of production techniques including sound recording, television, photography, videography, lighting, and equipment to create high quality video content.
  • Actively uses post-production photo/video editing techniques and preparation.
  • Meets deadlines for all projects.
  • May collaborate on projects for both USU and requests from other media organizations.
  • Collaborates with departmental colleagues to develop multimedia ideas to achieve goals and satisfaction with the final live stream.
  • Works with USU IT to maintain the infrastructure of both online and local storage.
  • Analyzes the technology needs for the broadcasting department; including managing equipment and determining necessary upgrades as needed.
  • Work with writers, editors, graphic designers, webmaster, and university communicators to create a wide range of marketing materials as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have a creative and innovative technical mind, be self-motivated, and be resourceful
  • Experience in video production, photography, and graphics design
  • Experience filming sporting events and have a strong working knowledge of professional camera and audio equipment including cameras, tripods, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment is required.
  • Valid driver's license to perform essential job functions.
  • Limited travel with designated teams and events as needed
  • Schedule will be non-traditional; must be able to work based on events including evenings, weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of professional work experience
  • Preferred experience in the following software: V-Mix, Livestream, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition and Microsoft Office.

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
