Come join our HR Team as a Human Resources Representative for Utah State University! Our positions serve as subject matter experts in one or more areas of HR and cross-train in the HR Solution Center.
As members of the HR Solution Center, our Human Resources Representatives answer questions, alleviate concerns, and solve problems via phone, email, and/or in-person, for employees, job applicants, staff, and administrators in all areas of human resources (e.g. benefits, compensation, employment, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), etc.). The person hired for this position will also be trained as a subject matter expert in the HRIS system (Banner).

Provide customer service and answer questions via phone, email, Service Now, and/or in person in the following areas:

  • HRIS system (Banner).
  • Affordable Care Act.
  • MyTime and AggieTime (time keeping systems).
  • New hire onboarding.
  • Employee benefits.
  • Applicant tracking system (iCIMS).
  • Electronic I9 system (Tracker).
  • Provide data entry (clean-up) for Banner reports on a variety of HR topics.
  • Review and process Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAF's) in Banner.
  • Assists applicants with troubleshooting the ATS website.
  • Provide assistance on payroll issues and error reports.
  • Process background check requests using Truescreen.
  • Process supplemental requests from departments and submit to payroll.
  • Process extra service compensation, consulting, early retire and/or rehire forms.
  • Assist in the processing of termination files.
  • Assist with USU open enrollment, retirement and recognition events, and HR health fairs as needed.
  • Learn and apply University policies and procedures.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to select the best solution.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • HR Representative I:
    • One year of experience in office-related customer service is required; human resources experience is preferred. An associate degree or business administration certificate may be substituted for experience.
  • HR Representative II:
    • Two years of experience in human resources; OR an associate degree/business administration certificate plus one year of experience in human resources is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with any or all of the following:
    • I-9 Processing
    • HRIS systems
    • Processing of background checks

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to respond to requests and questions regarding personnel and payroll matters within identified parameters.
  • Ability and skill to make decisions regarding the day-to-day operation of their functional area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to routinely process highly confidential and sensitive personnel records in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Database and records management skills.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex human resource issues.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Ability to act professionally when encountering customers who, at times, may be frustrated or upset.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions while working on various projects.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Actively seek ways to assist customers.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify solutions and approaches to problems.
  • This position functions under minimal to moderate supervision.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
