Overview

The Marketer I for the Event Services Department performs a combination of Creative Services related to social media/multimedia functions. Incumbents plan, develop, implement, and monitor social media marketing strategies in order to increase brand awareness; promote campaigns, programs, events, and departments; respond appropriately to online ratings/comments on review sites; produce, edit, deliver, and/or archive videos and/or photography for use in print and digital media, historic documentation, and other needs as assigned; manage live stream events and create storyboards for social media accounts; and may also write and/or edit marketing and promotional materials such as brochures, fliers, and other documents as well as coordinate special marketing events.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop, implement, and manage Event Services (i.e., Catering, Event Management, Event Space, Summer Citizens, TSC, Ticket Operations, University Inn, Youth Programs) social media strategies, plans, campaigns, and projects
  2. Define most important social media Key Progress Indicators (KPIs)
  3. Collect data and conduct analysis to evaluate the success of social media campaigns
  4. Stay up to date with social media best practices and technologies
  5. Use social media marketing tools such as Buffer, Biteable, Buzzsumo, to manage and track performance of content
  6. Produce live streaming of events for social media purposes
  7. Work with the marketing director and graphic designer to ensure content is informative and appealing
  8. Monitor SEO and user engagement, and suggest content optimization
  9. Communicate with University departments and influencers via social media to create and maintain a strong network
  10. Assist in writing marketing copy for a wide range of formats, including print, web, and social media
  11. Collaborate with the marketing director, graphic artist, web developer, and others to develop marketing materials
  12. Respond to online reviews and provide pertinent information to internal and external sources
  13. Plan, stage, and carry out photographic shoots of various events as assigned
  14. Assist with planning and coordinating special events such as open houses, outreach and community events, tours, banquets, exhibits, and product or service fairs
  15. Assist with conducting components of market research activities including analyzing data to identify targeted audiences and to identify the appropriate media for distribution of promotional information
  16. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
  • Knowledge of publishing procedures and requirements, including desktop publishing
  • Ability to professionally interact with a diverse group of clients and colleagues
  • Ability to develop ideas with others and recommend changes as needed
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Electronic media development skills
  • Knowledge of journalism, marketing, and branding principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of video, photographic, and multimedia production, programming, and editing from inception to completion
  • Knowledge of relevant digital equipment and imaging/editing software, video color correction software and hardware
  • Knowledge of the elements and principles of design
  • Knowledge of visual arts and photography methods, techniques, and processes
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to transport and setup displays
