The USU Southwest Recruiter II position is located in the USU-Southwest region, which includes Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Juab, Kane, Millard, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier, Washington, and Wayne Counties. The USU-Southwest Recruiter reports to the USU-Southwest Associate Vice President and is responsible for coordinating and evaluating all community-facing recruitment efforts in the Southwest region. This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah. 


  1. Provide leadership in the recruitment of non-traditional students, exploring/identifying potential growth markets, and building and maintaining relationships within the eleven counties served by the Southwest region. This includes conducting and analyzing needs assessments of educational and workforce needs in the eleven counties served by USU-Southwest.
  2. Coordinate USU-Southwest recruitment efforts with the overall USU recruitment team. To accomplish this, attendance at regular University and Statewide recruitment trainings and meetings will be required.
  3. Develop, implement, collect and analyze data on USU-Southwest recruitment efforts in terms of reach and efficacy of yield.
  4. Coordinate with the USU-Southwest Admissions Specialist to facilitate a smooth transition from community contacts to application submission.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to learn Utah State University recruitment, admissions and scholarship requirements and procedures
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Ability to work with a variety of audiences including prospective students (traditional & post-traditional), alumni, community leaders, and local business owners
  • Event development and coordination
  • Ability to multitask and initiate new projects
  • Willingness to travel (50% of position), evening and weekend work
  • Knowledge of/and appreciation for higher education
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and social media networks, and willingness to learn new computer programs
  • Must reside in one of the eleven counties served by USU-Southwest

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of higher education experience in Student Services related positions.
  • Highly developed organizational skills, ability to manage complex relationships.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relations Management Software (Recruiter), Banner and other university software systems.
  • Familiarity with communities in the USU-Southwest region, especially rural and remote communities
  • Experience with multicultural populations
  • Multi-lingual

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
