The Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence and Department of Nursing is seeking a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who will contribute to interdisciplinary care of children and adolescents. The hired individual will be a member of Sorenson Center interdisciplinary teams to insure coordinated care of clients of the center. The hired individual may also provide supervision to trainees in the Sorenson Center and teach classes in appropriate areas (e.g., psychopharmacology, behavioral health nursing).

Position start date is negotiable but ideal start date is in May 2023. Located on the main campus in Logan, Utah, this is a 1 FTE, 12-month fiscal year position. Review of applications will begin February 14, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.

This position is not eligible for full-time telehealth work, but some telework is incorporated in the position. The position is contingent on a successful background check.

• Provide psychiatric care, including medication management and psychotherapy, to Sorenson Center clients with a primary focus on children and adolescents. Patient visits will be primary conducted in person but based on patient need/preference, telehealth visits will also be provided.
• Work with other professionals and students as a member of Sorenson Center interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide supervision, as appropriate, to students / trainees.
• Teach on occasion (typically no more than one course per year).
• Engage in outreach activities to support the mission of the Sorenson Center.
• Serve as a member of research teams when appropriate.
• Serve as a member of the Sorenson Center interprofessional education planning team to help develop training curriculum for students who have practicum placements in the Sorenson Center.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A graduate degree in nursing with a psychiatric emphasis from an accredited college or university
2. A current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Utah with the Psychiatric Mental Health Specialty (or eligibility for this license by the start date)
3. National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
4. Possess (or eligible for) a Utah controlled substance license
5. Possess a federal DEA Certificate
6. Training and experience working with children and adolescents
7. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team setting
8. Comfortable treating children and adolescents for a variety of psychiatric conditions
