A ServiceNow Apprentice Developer is a key member of the ServiceNow Developers team and works with a team of developers to design, develop, document, maintain and support the ServiceNow applications and catalog items used within USU's ServiceNow platform. The ServiceNow Apprentice Developer is responsible to grow in understanding of the ServiceNow platform and apply best practices, system and university standards regarding design, development, and support.

 

This is an in person position located in Logan, UT.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and customize catalog items and applications in ServiceNow - from collecting & understanding organizational requirements, design & development, testing, documenting, writing implementation plans, and execution of those plans.
    • Transform business and functional requirements into detailed technical designs that represent actionable development tasks.
    • Ensure technical designs meet business and functional design requirements as well as maintain the integrity and sustainability of the application.
    • Define and meet standards for implementations in ServiceNow to ensure consistency and supportability of customizations.
    • Develop test cases for functional and regression testing.
    • Develop and test ServiceNow customizations including, but not limited to: user interface (UI), workflow administration, report setup, data imports, API integration, custom scripting and third party software integrations.
  • Recommend corrections to enhance system and application performance.
  • Work as a member of a team to implement ServiceNow technical solutions necessary to automate processes and support the operation of end-to-end services and processes.
  • Executes according to project schedule and manages timeline and communication during all phases of the project life-cycle.
  • Collaborate and communicate with clients and team members to gather, develop and validate business requirements for new functionality or enhancements.
  • Provide tier-two support to end users and Service Desk personnel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

The position will be hired at either level I through III based on these qualifications:

  • Programmer I: Bachelor's degree* in an IT-related field or an equivalent** combination of education plus experience is required.
  • Programmer II: Bachelor's degree* plus 2 years of experience in an IT-related field or an equivalent** combination of experience plus education is required; holds appropriate certifications and/or demonstrates equivalent knowledge in area of expertise.
  • Programmer III: Bachelor's degree* plus 4 years of experience in an IT-related field or an equivalent** combination of education plus experience is required; holds appropriate certifications and/or demonstrates equivalent knowledge in area of expertise.

*Bachelor's degree must be in an IT-related field from an accredited 4 year institution.
**One year of education is equivalent to one year of experience for the combination of both education and experience.

 

Additional Requirements Include:

  • Experience with JavaScript
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills and adapt to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work and communicate as a key member of the development team and work independently on assigned projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on integration technologies such as Web Services, REST, API.
  • Experience with Bootstrap, AngularJS, Jelly or CSS.
