Overview

The USU Extension Marketing Manager (Marketer II) is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing the marketing and communications efforts of USU Extension throughout the state of Utah. This includes creating marketing plans and campaigns to promote programs and events, coordinating projects, and engaging in media relations. The applicant must have a marketing background and strong writing and communication skills. The applicant must be a team player and have superb leadership and supervisory skills. The applicant must be willing to collaborate, be customer service oriented, be flexible, and work as a problem solver. This position reports to the director of marketing and will work closely on projects with other members of the Extension marketing team. This position is based in the Salt Lake area.

Responsibilities

  • Write and implement marketing plans for programs and centers
  • Coordinate project requests from Extension faculty with other members of the marketing team
  • Assist with web, email, and social media marketing campaigns
  • Assist with marketing and branding of Extension programs
  • Coordinate and staff trade shows
  • Support Extension events, conferences, trade shows, etc.
  • Order products, including swag, printed materials, signage, etc.
  • Provide internal communications and trainings
  • Supervise employees
  • Oversee brand compliance, approve designs, and coordinate with the USU trademark office
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, communications and two years of public relations and/or marketing experience, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience with employee supervision, project management, marketing, and branding
  • Experience in developing, coordinating and executing communication plans
  • Some travel required
  • Some lifting and moving required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education
  • Media relations experience
  • Digital marketing and website skills
  • Experience with Canva, Asana, DRIP, and Constant Contact, Zoom, Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Digital and social media marketing experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be creative and innovative
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions, be proactive, and manage time effectively

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to analyze results of all marketing and communications activity and present findings and recommendations to the director
