Overview

Guest Services Representatives are responsible for ensuring a fun, exciting, and safe experience for patrons while attending Utah State University events. Event Services is hiring now and for the upcoming school year. The position is on campus.

 

Guest Services is seeking to fill multiple positions and will be an ongoing search. Opportunities for growth and advancement into departments such as USU Fine Arts, Event Hosting, and Youth Programs. Internships and Work Study program is also an option.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests to Utah State University in a friendly and professional manner
  • Perform accurate access control of entry including, scan or tear tickets to allow entry, identify fraudulent tickets and deny invalid credentials.
  • Perform appropriate access control to restricted areas to those with valid credentials.
  • Enforce "prohibited item" rules and professionally communicate the need for compliance to these rules.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of facility layout and traffic flow to provide accurate answers to guests and provide excellent customer service
  • Assist guests with questions, comments, complains or suggestions. Act as a source for information. Follow-up when necessary
  • Seat guests in an orderly fashion, providing directions and resolve seating problems when necessary.
  • Provide assistance for guests with special needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of individual responsibility and follow proper procedures in the case of an emergency.
  • Adhere to safety rules and assist guests in the case of an emergency. Document accidents or injuries when necessary.
  • Ensure exit pathways are properly lit and that nothing obstructs them. Ensure friendly, professionally and safe egress.
  • Enforce individual event/venue rules and provide other services as noted by venue. Provide overall outstanding customer service

Qualifications

  • US Work Authorization is required.
  • Prefer three months experience with customer service.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and handle difficult situations with the public and guests in a calm & professional manner.
  • Employees must maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance.
  • Hours will vary depending on season and number of events at venues. Hours may include nights, weekends & holidays.
  • Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
