Overview

An opening for a French Language Summer Camp Instructor for lower grades. USU Extension Language Learning Program combines hands-on learning experiences and STEAM with foreign languages. The curriculum is designed with 4-H goals and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals in mind. We teach students to discover, care and protect our environment through various activities. You might find our students digging in the dirt and observing nature in the farm, as well as making art, engaging with the target culture through song, dress, and food, and practicing their language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend a two-hour training, lesson plan development and collaboration in-person
  • Arrive 20 minutes before class starts
  • Position is 7/31/23 - 8/4/23. Five days of 3 hour instructions with morning (9:00 am - 12:00 noon), and afternoon (1:00 pm - 4:00 pm). Pay is $1500.00

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Work Authorization Required
  • Certification in language learning and experience in teaching French, including teaching dual immersion program experience
  • Close to native fluency in listening/speaking/reading/writing French
  • Proven record in society engagement and coordinating youth activities
  • Creative, outgoing, enjoying work with kids
  • Interest and/or skills in kid-friendly activities such as painting, crafting, and singing
  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than three years French DLI elementary teaching experience
  • Teacher’s license or education related degree
