The Disability Resource Center is seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to fulfil the role of Lead Interpreter (Interpreter II). This position provides American Sign Language interpreting for Deaf and/or hard-of hearing students, faculty, staff, and/or visitors at USU, while also acting as a mentor for part-time interpreters. The lead interpreter is also responsible for planning and leading regular trainings for USU’s other interpreters. This is a nine-month position (mid-August through mid-May).

• Provide ASL interpretation for USU sponsored classes and events.
• Prepare for classes by reviewing course material or other relevant information.
• Collaborate with DRC coordinator to recruit, retain, train, mentor and supervise hourly interpreters.
• Provide ongoing mentoring and training for other USU interpreters.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• State or National Interpreter Certification.
• Two (2) years of directly related experience working as an ASL interpreter

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Five (5) years of directly related experience working as an ASL
• ASL interpreting experience in a higher education setting.
