Overview

The ASPIRE NSF Engineering Research Center headquartered at Utah State University has an opening for a Research Project Coordinator. The position will provide program management support to a wide range of academic research and development projects. Program scope includes projects in the workforce development and electric vehicle infrastructure industry. The Research Project Coordinator will coordinate project efforts with the Center's faculty and student teams. This position will be responsible for laying out timelines, tracking milestones and goals, managing project execution, facilitating team meetings, and organizing reports both internally and externally to project sponsors. The position will also support management of internal and external proposals developed by the project teams.

 

This position will be hired at either Project Coordinator I, II, or Senior depending upon qualifications and duties assigned.  Please see the Qualifications section. Partial telework may be considered with an understanding that working in the office is still required

Responsibilities

  • The Research Project Coordinator will be responsible to coordinate a diverse set of research projects through all stages of project life cycle, from proposal development to day-to-day project execution, deliverables, goal tracking, reports and closeout
  • Leverage strong organization and communication skills to interface with faculty and project teams to track and coordinate project work
  • Work in a decentralized organizational structure with faculty and students from the Center's participating campus locations
  • Support the development of project proposal documents and support the submission process according to stakeholder requirements
  • Develop reports with project teams and present research findings to organizations, government, and industry leaders
  • Gain understanding of the opportunities and challenges of the electric vehicle infrastructure industry and implement risk management strategies to achieve targets and goals

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The position will be hired at either Project Coordinator I, II, or Senior based upon the education/experience and duties assigned:
    • For Project Coordinator I:
      • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience
    • For Project Coordinator II:
      • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience
    • For Project Coordinator Senior:
      • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus a minimum of four years of relevant work experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience
  • Experience managing projects (especially in Academia)
  • Experience managing, indirectly, many teams and resources to achieve project goals
  • Can create advanced schedules/Gantt charts to track multiple projects and resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an academic environment with students and faculty

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong oral presentation and written English communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple job tasks under deadlines
  • Knowledge of project management tracking software
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet project deadlines, and experience managing multiple projects
  • Risk identification and management skills
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined

ASPIRE is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Engineering Research Center (ERC) that is headquartered at Utah State University. Our research leads the nation in supporting adoption and advancing the electrified transportation industry! We are the first of its kind in the world to take a holistic approach to eliminate range and charging as barriers to electrifying all vehicle classes, from passenger cars to heavy duty trucks.
