Overview

The Department of Campus Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs at Utah State University seeks a positive, collaborative, and dynamic individual to join our team as our Coordinator of Club Sports (Program Coordinator II). Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Programs & Assessment, the Coordinator of Competitive Sports - Club Sports is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and daily operations of all aspects of the Utah State University Club Sports programs. This individual will be a key team member of the Campus Recreation Department, which provides aquatic programs, club sports, fitness/wellness, intramurals, outdoor recreation, special events, extramurals, summer camp, and collaborative programs.

Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Provide day-to-day management of 28 club sport teams. Serve as primary point of contact for Utah State Club Sports for all University officers, coaches, and student leaders.
  • Develop policies and procedures for overall Club Sports program.
  • Compile, prepare, and maintain records for Club Sports budget, practice schedules, home games, and roster management.
  • Upkeep and maintain all participant waivers, injuries, and incident reports.
  • Coordinate the hiring process for all club sport coaches and volunteers
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and supervising of student staff supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records of the club sport budget & points and communicate to club officers about their status regularly.
  • Develop and maintain club sport manual as well as club sport supervisor staff manual.
  • Become proficient in the use of Fusion, WhentoWork, DoSportsEasy, and Connect2Concepts software as they relate to program administration and management.
  • Responsible for inventory and maintaining all Club Sports equipment as well as medical supplies in the trainer room and club sport medical bags.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of risk management protocols for Club Sports events and programs.
  • Utilize Go4Ellis to recruit and hire medical training services for all high impact club sports events, baseline testing, and treatment hours.
  • Provide leadership and direction for Esports clubs.
  • Partner with appropriate academic units to expand Esports offerings.
  • Collaborate with Coordinator of Competitive Sports – Intramurals to provide open recreation and intramural Esports activities.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Healthy Lifestyle Programs & Community Engagement on the planning and management of Campus
  • Recreation Special Events including wellness fairs, Turkey Trot 5k, Speed Triathlon, and other events.
  • Understand and represent the mission and vision of Utah State University Campus Recreation Department.
  • Work evening and weekends when necessary, regarding Club Sports events and games.
  • Assist with the marketing and promotion of the club sports programs.

Personnel Management

  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of club sport supervisors.
  • Ensure delivery of a comprehensive student development program for student staff within Campus Recreation Programs.

Budget Management

  • Research, develop, monitor, and adhere to the Club Sports program budgets.
  • Oversee program payroll, tracking, and approvals.

Research & Assessment

  • Evaluate all Club Sports programs and services to determine overall effectiveness and satisfaction to decide on possible changes as deemed appropriate.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Club Sports and overall department research and assessment agenda to include development of student and program learning outcomes.

Other

  • Prepare written communications such as monthly reports, annual reports, participation statistics, etc.
  • Actively participate on a variety of Campus Recreation, University, and national association committees as assigned/obtained.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with two years of work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work varying hours including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in sports management, recreation administration, physical education, kinesiology/exercise science, business administration, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in related field of Sports Management or Athletic Training
  • Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Two years of professional experience developing Club Sport programming in a collegiate recreation setting (including Graduate Assistantship).
  • Standard Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and/or instructor certification
  • Active involvement in NIRSA – Leaders in Collegiate Recreation or National Athletic Trainers Association
  • Broad-based technical knowledge and skills to related athletic training and sports injuries

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Administration, personnel & organizational management knowledge
  • Knowledge and skills for Budgeting
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Principles of superior customer service, and effective marketing
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment
