Overview

The admissions assistant position at the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is a student/hourly position designed to assist SGS staff in achieving administrative objectives. This position works closely with the SGS admissions officers and occasionally with the SGS Registrar. You will provide support in a wide variety of areas including assisting with transcripts and student records, calculating transcript GPAs, and answering phone calls and emails. This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Flexible hours (10-25 per week based on interest and availability).
  • Telework is flexible but most times will be required to work in the office.
  • Hourly wage starts at a minimum of $16.00/hour.
  • Scan/ upload/file domestic and international transcripts both electronic and physical.
  • Calculate transcript GPAs.
  • Manage Graduate Studies Admissions email account.
  • Assist front desk staff with general student questions in person and over the phone.
  • Occasionally answer the main Graduate School phone and connect callers with the appropriate staff member or department.
  • Occasionally assist the Graduate Registrar with a variety of tasks.
  • Must have a positive attitude, excellent clerical skills, a strong work ethic, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced office environment, as well as excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Keen attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • A can-do attitude and the ability to pick up tasks quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
