Overview

Under general direction of the Surplus Sales Coordinator, coordinates timely pickup, arrangement, display, and pricing of disposal items from campus departments for public bid sales and special item sales. 

Responsibilities

  • Performs timely pickups of surplus items from campus departments for public bid sales.
  • Ensures that all disposal records are logged and reported accurately and completely.
  • Directs the arrangement, display, and pricing of surplus items for public bid sales.
  • Loads and unloads surplus items using a hand truck, and/or forklift.
  • Schedules workload and hours of work for part-time student employees.
  • Sell items to campus departments and the public.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of related work experience or an associates degree is required.
  • Must adhere to the university driving and traveling policy and be certified as a forklift operator, or must be willing to become Forklift Certified through USU Training.
  • Must have experience working with customers in a retail environment.
  • Must have experience handling cash.

  • Skill in organizing and coordinating the work and training of others
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to apply mathematical skills
  • Ability to organize work flow to produce the most efficient productivity
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with co-workers, campus customers, and the public
  • Ability to supervise student employees and volunteers
  • Ability to prioritize work and accomplish tasks

Work environment includes confined or narrow spaces, and requires assuming uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, squatting, etc. Work environment requires following safety precautions.
