Overview

The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services business services team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join us as a Business Assistant III. The Business Assistant will provide transactional support to departments within the college. The position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines, and the desire and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a productive team. Responsibilities

Provide Hiring, Onboarding, and Payroll Services Support:

  • Submit timely and accurate job postings for hourly and benefited positions.
  • Collect required hiring paperwork and complete hiring process for employees.
  • Process electronic personnel action forms to hire, change pay details, terminate employees.
  • Set up hourly employees in time tracking system and support biweekly payroll processes.
  • Set up benefited employees in time tracking/leave system and act as leave manager.

Provide Purchasing Services:

  • Coordinate purchases from faculty/staff.
  • Coordinate with purchasing on contract reviews, bids, request for quotes, etc.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory and assist with annual audit.
  • Process journal vouchers as designated. 
  • Assist with department deposits.
  • Positively engage and attend training and informational meetings provided by Purchasing, HR, Controller's Office, or Business Services

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Six years of related work experience; or an associate degree/technical training plus four years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a business field plus two years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Banner HR module
  • Experience processing EPAFs in Banner
  • Familiarity with Banner finance and student modules, Argos, and ServiceNow
  • Previous university experience with knowledge USU policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proactive in resolving issues, setting up processes, and providing high-level customer service.
  • Skilled with computer programs, including spreadsheets, and relational databases.
  • Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Tact, discretion, and independent judgment.
