Overview

This is a half-time, 12-month non-tenure track, teaching position in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Sciences at the level of Instructor. Teaching assignments will include instruction of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Nutrition Science and Dietetics programs as well as coordination and supervision of clinical supervised practice experiences. The position is 95% Teaching, 5% Service.

 

Estimated start date is July 1, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, coordinate, schedule, and oversee supervised practice hours for the clinical internship rotations of students enrolled in Medical Dietetics as part of the Certificate of Applied Practiced in Dietetics program. Clinical supervised practice experiences are typically located between Logan and South Salt Lake. This position will require weekly travel to distant sites.
  • Train preceptors at clinical supervised practice sites.   
  • Oversee the implementation of the Castlebranch clinical screening platform and ensure that students meet the requirements for completing supervised practice experiences at off-site locations. 
  • Maintain agreements for sites that agree to work with students completing supervised practice hours.
  • Teach courses as assigned. These may include Medical Dietetics (4 credits fall semesters) and Dietetics-Related Experiences (1 credit fall, spring, and summer semesters).
  • Service to the university, including active participation and leadership on department, college, and university committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
    • Certified Dietitian in Utah, or eligible to become certified in the State of Utah within 6 months of hire.
    • Master’s degree recipient in dietetics, public health or a related discipline. Independent worker with strong writing, computer, time management, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
  • Three years of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
  • Experience with mentoring students.
  • Experience with managing clinical supervised practice experiences for students in professional health programs.
