Overview

Utah State University is looking for a dedicated individual to take on the role of Director of Women’s Basketball Operations (Athletic Operations Spec I). 

 

As part of our team, the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations plays a vital role in the day-to-day management of our program. Handling everything from team travel arrangements to budget and business reports, ensuring student-athlete eligibility, and coordinating special events.


Collaborating closely with our Head Coach, this position helps tackle internal and external matters, ensuring seamless operations and helping to contribute to the success and growth of our Women’s Basketball program.

Responsibilities

Women’s Basketball Budget

Responsible to oversee all aspects of the Women’s Basketball budget to include the management and responsibility of a travel budget; all expense report forms for coaches, staff and athletes; work with Associate Athletics Director/Business on all budgets relating to Women’s Basketball; ensure all purchasing and payments are processed timely and are in compliance with University rules and guidelines.

 

Travel

Responsible for managing each home and away travel itinerary, travel roster, hotel listing, menus, charter manifests and rooming assignments; scheduling all airline charters, buses and transfers for the Women’s Basketball team; player and coach ticket needs.

 

Responsible for all post-season travel to games; creating a manual for each player, coach, staff and invited guests as to events and itinerary; player game room set-up; management of team events; assist with practice set-up and flow; processing player per diem; create and distribute team schedules; player travel arrangements; completing site visit; coordination of player and coaches room assignments.

 

Head Coach and Team Responsibilities

Responsible for the office management for Women’s Basketball; serve as liaison for newly hired and departing coaches; maintain monthly updates of current player contact information (including parents’ information) to be distributed to coaching staff; maintain files for current and past players; assist Head Coach and Assistant Coaches with special projects and requests; production of signs, pictures and other special assignments assigned by Head Women’s Basketball Coach; nutrition program for the Women’s Basketball team; maintain players’ calendar; monitor the Head Coach’s calendar; liaison to Sports Information responsible for monitoring Head Coach’s calendar and maintaining Coaches Show communication and scheduling, including player coordination; Summer Job Program Liaison; Professional Rep Liaison; serve as host and meet visitors’ needs pre and post-practice;  process Roster Deletion and Additions; communicate practice changes; assist with documentation and scheduling of official and unofficial visits, including admissions tours; preparation and distribution of a schedule in conjunction with Head Coach.

 

Events

Responsible for all event preparation; Coaches Clinic; schedules; facility reservations; facility set-up; meal coordination; gift for attendees; oversee registration of clinic attendees; spring game organization with administration; Media Day coordination with Sports Information.

 

Supervisory

This position supervises student managers for the Women’s Basketball program.  Responsible to supervise, coordinate and schedule all activities for the managers.

 

Facilities

Responsible for arranging/reserving meeting spaces and facilities for team meetings, practice and other needs as they arise; cleanliness of player and coaches’ locker rooms; maintenance of all facilities.

 

Administrative Liaison

This position will be the liaison with; Athletics Department business office, strength and condition, compliance, marketing, media relations, learning resources, parking services, Logan and USU Police, video, alumni, public relations, and student-athlete affairs, as well as with the donors of the University and various members of the community.

 

Compliance

Responsible for all aspects related to NCAA Compliance including;  all compliance performance issues including eligibility, recruiting, playing and practice issues, student-athlete employment, stipend check requests, special assistant funds, Pell Grants, and weekly NCAA compliance paper work and logs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a Division I program as a player and/or coach
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCAA rules and interpretation knowledge
  • Technology background Basketball camp playing/coaching experience
  • Willingness to be a team player and is known as a "self starter" employee
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Team or group travel experience
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments
  • Attention to detail
  • USU experience
